This privacy policy aims to inform the user about the collection, processing and use of their personal data, as well as the rights they hold over them, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 (RGPD).

The Documentation Services of the University of Minho respects your right to privacy and does not collect any personal information about you without your consent.

Any personal data you provide to us will be treated with the mandatory security and confidentiality as required by the RGPD.

Collecting and Handling Data

The personal data of the user, collected in the scope of the activities and services of SDUM and the libraries of the University of Minho managed by SDUM, will be treated for registration purposes in the UMinho libraries, for all activities related to loan services, cultural extension and user training, registration and use of RepositóriUM services, registration and reception of the Newsletter on the site openacess.sdum.uminho.pt, communications with users, processing requests for information, complaints, suggestions and analysis of statistics.

The personal data processed in the scope of the activities and services provided by SDUM is the data provided by the User through a variety of institutional forms and those provided by other services of the University of Minho.

SDUM will also process personal data for the collection of monetary penalties for overdue loans; processing of user cards; and the processing of document supply services and inter-library loans.

SDUM may also use personal data to conduct quality service surveys or user satisfaction surveys, to meet quality policy requirements and to exercise and monitor the services provided.

SDUM is the entity responsible for the processing of personal data, within the scope of the activities and services indicated in the previous points. The User may contact SDUM for any question related to the protection of his personal data, by e-mail sdum@sdum.uminho.pt.

Data transmission

SDUM will neither communicate nor transmit the User's personal data to entities external to UMinho.

Security policy

SDUM, within the framework of the policies and procedures of the datacentre of the University of Minho, have implemented adequate security measures to protect the personal data of the User against destruction, loss, alteration, dissemination, unauthorized access or any other accidental or unlawful treatment.

It is, however, the user’s responsibility to ensure that the equipment used is adequately protected against harmful software and computer viruses, worms and / or malware.

Period of data storage

The personal data of the Users will be kept during the period of validity of their registration at the UMinho libraries, and managed by SDUM or for a period of time necessary to provide the services for which they are intended. After this period, SDUM may still maintain them for statistical purposes, and for the latter purpose the data should then be anonymized.

User Rights

Users, as the holder of their personal data, have the right to request access to the personal data concerning them, request alteration of personal data that is inaccurate or incomplete, removal of personal data, total or partial limitation of the processing of personal data, the right to object to the processing of personal data and the right to data portability, may be done so by sending a request in writing to: sdum@sdum.uminho.pt

Whenever Users consider that SDUM may have violated their rights under the applicable data protection law, a complaint must be made with the competent control authority (National Data Protection Commission).
